ETMA Celebrates September Meeting as It Looks Forward to Spring 2018

Gathering of CEOs and Presidents from Firms Highlights Ability of ETMA to Create Environment for Thought Leaders to Advance the Market through Collaboration and Dialog
October 10, 2017 – The Enterprise Technology Management Association ETMA, recently hosted a successful gathering of members and guests. The meeting had many highlights with interesting speakers, inspirational new awards, a new industry standard for inventory, round table discussions, opportunities for networking and development of new business partnerships, review of ETMA’s business plan, finances and its ethics code.
ETMA attracted a diverse range of industry insiders and outsiders to its San Francisco meeting to address the theme of “Where the Industry Is Headed.”
Charlie Yielding, CEO of G Squared Wireless and ETMA At-Large Board member said, “The presentations were a good combination of industry insiders and guest speakers. It was good to see how private equity firms look at the industry, and Alex Mordach’s presentation on IOT-as-a-Service showed everyone in attendance what the future of IOT could look like. I personally learned more than ever, and came away from the ETMA meeting with a refreshed perspective of our industry.
Jill Plouffe, President of 4 Telecom Help said, “I was really inspired by the Giving Back award nominees. This is something we need to look at with our firm. I also enjoyed the opportunity to network with peers from other firms during breaks and the wine tour.”
David Sonenstein, Executive Director for Ezwim and ETMA At-Large Board member said, “I am constantly amazed at how partnerships you never would have thought of are uncovered over something as simple as a coffee during a meeting break, conversing with your table at the ETMA dinner,  or unwinding over a beverage in the lobby bar at the end of the day. With the executive leaders of our member companies in attendance (rather than their salespeople like other conferences), this group and its biannual meetings are really something special.”
ETMA introduced three new awards at the meeting with members voting to select the winners for Best Practices, Innovation of the Year, and Giving Back. Roundtable topics provided a framework for productive discussions and sharing of information. Each table was assigned one topic to discuss and present to the group. Topics included

  • What areas are next in the evolution of our market?
  • What elements and structure is necessary for effective channel partnerships?
  • What are the best ways to promote your company and generate new leads?
  • Carrier automation and the pros and cons of e-bonding, robots, APIs and other integration.

Following up on its 2017 March New Orleans meeting, an industry standard was presented at the meeting for fixed wireline, mobile and IT inventory. Over the past six months, ETMA asked members for suggestions in meetings, committee calls and email before finalizing the inventory standard. The ETMA Inventory Standard for Fixed Wireline, Mobile and IT paper, is now available for download on the ETMA website. It reflects contributions from ETMA’s thought leaders.
ETMA looks forward to hosting its next meeting in Nashville March/April of 2018. ETMA’s Executive Board is already developing the meeting agenda, planning guest speakers and working to improve features from the last meeting. Many of the highlights from the last meeting will be featured with new topics designed to stimulate discussion and challenge participants.
